PUBG Taego Guide
Taego is an 8×8 km map inspired by 1980s–90s Korea, with open fields, unique revive items and Secret Rooms. It is in the 2026 ranked pool.
Why Taego matters
Taego launched in 2021 with Update 12.2. As of Update 43.1 it is one of the four ranked maps and rotates in Europe's large-map pool for normal matches. Its open terrain and map-specific items reward teams that plan rotations and use utility well.
What makes Taego different
- Self AED. A world-loot item that lets you revive yourself. In squads it means a fully downed team is not always finished, so confirm knocks.
- Comeback BR. Taego introduced Comeback BR, where players eliminated early fight in a separate arena for a chance to return to the main match. Check current match settings, as modes change between seasons.
- Secret Rooms. Vault-style Secret Rooms open with keys found as world loot and hold high-tier gear. Keys are used up when you open a door.
- No Red Zone and clear weather at launch, so long sightlines are common.
- Birds react to movement and gunfire – flocks taking off can give away a player's position.
Where to land
Larger towns such as Ho San and the Palace have the most loot and the most players. Both also have Secret Rooms, so expect teams to contest them early. For a calmer start, land at smaller villages away from the flight path and loot quickly before rotating.
Rotation tips
- Plan cover in advance. Taego has wide fields and farmland; pick the next compound or tree line before you move.
- Watch the birds. Use them to spot enemies, and remember they can give you away too.
- Carry smokes for field crossings and revives – see the grenade guide.
- Rotate early. Since Update 42.1, the longer you stay in the Blue Zone, the more it hurts.
Loadout tips
Mid-to-long range fights are common. An assault rifle with a 3x or 4x scope plus a DMR works well – check the current weapon tier list.
A ranked game plan for Taego
- Decide on Secret Rooms before you jump. If you are landing in Ho San or the Palace, plan who checks for keys; otherwise ignore them and loot fast.
- Pick up a Self AED if you see one, and tell your squad who is carrying it.
- Rotate by tree lines and compounds. Map out two cover points ahead so you never get caught mid-field.
- Confirm knocks. Because of the Self AED, a downed enemy is not always out – finish them when it is safe.
- Use the birds. Before the last circles, pause and watch for flocks lifting off near enemy positions.
Late-game tips
- Final circles often land in farmland: keep two smokes for the last rotation.
- Hold buildings on the circle edge and let teams cross the fields to you.
- Watch for teams reviving with a Self AED behind cover – a grenade can stop it.
