PUBG Erangel Guide
Erangel is the one map you play every day in PUBG. Here is how to choose where to land, how to rotate, and what changed on the map in 2026.
Why Erangel matters
Erangel is PUBG's original 8×8 km map and the one constant in matchmaking. As of Update 43.1 it is permanently available in normal matches in every region, including Europe, and makes up a quarter of the ranked map pool alongside Miramar, Taego and Rondo. Learning it well pays off more than any other map.
Drop spots by risk level

How busy a location is depends on the flight path. A "quiet" town directly under the plane can be crowded, and a hot drop far from the path can be empty. Watch where other players jump before committing.
Key areas explained
Military Base (Sosnovka Island)
The south of the map is an island reached by bridges. Military Base has high-tier loot, but leaving the island when the circle is on the mainland is dangerous because teams often hold the bridges. Have a vehicle – or a boat – ready, and rotate early.
Pochinki
Central location with dense housing. Its position means you are rarely far from the circle, but expect several teams in the first minutes.
School and Rozhok
The School is a multi-storey building with quick, intense fights; Rozhok sits next to it. Landing here gives fast action and a central position.
Georgopol
A large city in the north-west split into a town area and a container yard. The containers create tight, unpredictable fights.
Rotation tips
- Find a vehicle early if you land away from the centre. Erangel is large, and since Update 42.1 Blue Zone damage builds up the longer you stay inside it, so a long walk through the zone hurts more than it used to.
- Cross water early. The river and the island bridges are chokepoints. Ferries returned to the map in Update 40.1 and can be an alternative crossing.
- Use ridges and tree lines rather than open fields when rotating on foot.
- Take compounds on the circle edge before later teams arrive, then let others rotate into you.

Destructible terrain changes final circles: a ridge or rock you are hiding behind can be blown away, so do not rely on a single piece of cover late in the game.
Secret Rooms
Erangel has locked Secret Rooms that need a key found in the world. They hold high-value loot, and since Update 40.1 they can also contain utility items. A key is worth picking up, but only detour for a Secret Room if it fits your rotation.
Loot priorities after landing
- Any weapon, then a helmet and vest.

- Leave quickly. On Erangel, rotating late costs more games than poor loot.
