New in Update 43.1
The kick is performed with right mouse while unarmed (standing kick) or right mouse while jumping (jump kick), and can be rebound in Key Bindings. The new carry system uses H to pick up eligible items without using inventory space; holding the same key uses some ground items instantly.
Changes most competitive players make
- Lean on mouse side buttons. Leaning on Q/E means lifting fingers off movement keys mid-fight. Moving lean to the two thumb buttons lets you peek and strafe at the same time.
- Hold for shoulder aim, toggle (or hold) for scope – but separate them. Mixing them up causes accidental scope-ins at close range. Pick one behaviour for each and keep it.
- Crouch and prone as hold or toggle – choose deliberately. Hold crouch is faster for crouch-peeking; toggle is easier during long holds behind cover.
- Healing on reachable keys. 7–0 are a stretch. Many players move bandage, first aid and boosts to keys around WASD or to extra mouse buttons.
- Throwables on one easy key. Keep 5 (or a closer key) for throwables and use the on-screen list added in Update 40.1 to see what you are carrying. Practise with the grenade guide.
- Free look on a key you can hold while moving. Alt works for most; some prefer a mouse button so they can look around while running.
- Marker and push-to-talk where you can press them mid-fight. Quick callouts win more squad fights than perfect aim.
Movement keys worth practising
- Crouch-jump (jump, then crouch in the air) helps you clear windows and fences that a normal jump misses.
- Lean-spray: practise spraying while leaning – see the recoil routine.
- Walk (Left Ctrl) makes your footsteps quieter when you are close to enemies – useful together with the audio guide.
Common mistakes
- Copying a pro's full keybind file – their hand size, mouse and habits differ. Change one bind at a time.
- Changing binds and sensitivity in the same week. Muscle memory needs one thing to change at a time; see the sensitivity guide.
- Forgetting vehicle controls. Seat-swap (Ctrl + number) saves lives when the driver is hit.

Frequently asked questions
What are the default lean keys in PUBG?
Q leans left and E leans right by default. Many competitive players move lean to the mouse side buttons so they can lean and move at the same time.
How do you kick in PUBG?
Since Update 43.1, right-click while unarmed for a standing kick, or right-click while jumping for a jump kick. You can rebind it in Key Bindings.
What does the H key do in PUBG?
Since Update 43.1, H picks up and carries eligible items without using inventory space. Holding it uses some ground items instantly.
Should crouch be hold or toggle in PUBG?
Hold crouch is quicker for crouch-peeking in fights; toggle is more comfortable for long holds. Either works – pick one and stick with it.
